recently, and more than usual, i’m driving aroud the north of italy.
a truly terrifying experience because of traffic, of the enormous number of trucks, of the constant vue of horrific building, those miasonnette designed by the draftsman family friend, or the shoes/furniture factories that looks as if they came of of the most filthy mind of a assyrian/babylonian builder mixed with an “architect” from las vegas.
but this is nothing.
the real pleasure is the uninterrupted triumph of the off-ramps.
it looks as if the only pleasure for local municipalities is to build an obscene quantity of off-ramps, specially decorated with a triumph of special effects, fountains, lights, post modern lamp posts, fake villages, lawns …. and so on at nauseum.
and it can happen, like it happened to me, that while driving around a little town in veneto region in the middle of the night, suddenly a mysterious ufo appears in front of you, landed who knows why in the industrious north east…
