What a great honour is what my hometown is giving me! I am so happy!
I’ll be waiting for you Sunday the 20th of November at 17:00 by the University of Imperia, where the acknowledgement will be given to me!
PS: in all truth I would like to know what the Patron Saint of Imperia thinks about his name and above all his celebration being associated to my photographs… 😉

This blog has many (huge!) defects, but perhaps it has a small virtue: it reminds, at least to me, the things that are essential not to forget.
Now there’s facebook and twitter, but before there was myspace (do you remember it?!?) where things and events were posted and perhaps passed. But they are always platforms that come, go, and are gone … Independently from us and especially from me.
Instead this blog, as long as I am here, will always be and for some things it is crucial that they are here so that they can be remembered.
For example, during these last few days in Italy there has been a spate of bad weather and rain, which has given rise to situations like this:
and today it also happened that, because of cars parked illegally in a second lane, in Milan a twelve-year-old kid was riding his bicycle and died crushed by a tram. This evening I went to the place of the accident, to give my small tribute. The cars were not parked illegally anymore twenty meters from and twenty meters to the point of death of the small child: from one road up and one road below it was exactly the same, with the usual fucking cars parked like fucking dickheads.
I INCRIMINATE MYSELF OF COMPLICITY, BECAUSE IF I WASN’T THE SHIT THAT I AM I WOULD GET ON MY SCOOTER AND WITH A HAMMER I WOULD GO AND SMASH EVERY SINGLE WINDOW OF ALL THOSE FUCKING CARS OF ALL THOSE EMPLOYEES THAT ARE WATCHING BIG BROTHER RIGHT THIS MOMENT.
I dedicate to them with all my heart ADIUS by the great Piero Ciampi. FUCK YOU.

INTERNAZIONALE is, in my opinion, the best magazine in italy at the moment: the bes of the best of the articles of the best magazines and the best daily newspapers translated for us. A point of view (international!) that often renders the story and the facts not only more objective but also more in depth.
I buy many more magazines because I have to, internazionale I buy because I choose to.
I then thought that it would be a good and righteous thing for me to appear (nevertheless!) as an advertising investor, buying my own little space. Not just to give myself some publicity, but perhaps and above all to say, in a clear and evident way, that here I am.
I then put a piece of my image, I only wrote my name and surname (and nothing else that can publicise me …) and a short sentence, in which I really identify myself, and I identify very deeply what I do: tester of moments.
Yes, I see a lot of myself in this definition. In my profession I don’t really act on things. I test situations, places, feelings, emotions, romance, beaches, travels… I try them once, I see that everything works … and then someone else will really live them…
Settimio Benedusi, a tester of moments.

In the monthly insert of the Corriere della Sera newspaper, STYLE, I shot an editorial of Holly Branson, the daughter of Sir Richard Branson.
We took the photographs on the top floor of the Virgin gym that is in construction on Corso Como in Milan, surrounded by new skyscrapers that are busy being built and that shape the surrounding landscape and atmosphere in a very peculiar way, between the surreal and the metaphysic. To try and describe this particular location which is in many ways not very “milanese” I thought of working with the ring flash, to highlight not only the model but the landscape surrounding her as well, which if I had shot without the flash it would have inevitably disappeared.
Here are the original shots as well as some that where not chosen by the magazine, this whole might better render my idea:
And in the end four backstage shots, made by Pasquale Ettorre:
PS: one of the very first vinyls which I bought in my life was TUBULARS BELLS (even today it is a very interesting album, which I strongly suggest to buy and listen). This was the first album produced by VIRGIN RECORDS, by Holly’s father, Sir Richard Branson.
