FOTOGRAFICA 2009 #02

[it]allora, eccomi qui, qualche giorno dopo l’intervento a fotografica 2009, il week end dedicato alla fotografia allo spazio forma.

il post precedente l’ho fatto, chi era lì lo sa bene, proprio durante l’intervento; mi sembra giusto adesso raccontare un po’ meglio ciò che è successo, ad uso e consumo magari per chi non era presente…

allora, partendo dalle origini: sono stato invitato a tenere una conferenza di un paio d’ore nella sala principale dello spazio forma. appena mi  fu data questa bella notizia ho subito pensato a come rendere queste due orette interessanti. fare semplicemente una slide show con le mie foto e facendo vedere “urbis et orbis” quanto sono figo non mi sembrava proprio una bella idea. come minino ero sicuro che sarebbe venuta fuori una cosa noiosetta…

mettermi in gioco, rischiare…questo ho pensato che sarebbe stato molto meglio!

ho cominciato comunque a raccontare un minimo “chi sono”. la risposta ho pensato potesse essere solo una: “sono ciò che sono sempre stato”. ho fatto vedere allora una foto che ho fatto nel 1979 al mio amico andrea (con pellicola, sviluppata e stampata da me…) e un’altra fatta trent’anni dopo ad una modella per max. le due immagini hanno la stessa identica luce e, secondo me, la stessa identica anima. sono queste qui sotto:

a parte essere noiosetto fare uno slide show, ho anche sempre pensato che far vedere le foto fatte con dei figoni alle maldive sia controproducente, perchè fa pensare “sono capaci tutti a fare una bella foto con un figone alle maldive”. che è un’enorme cazzata, perchè alle maldive piove come a milano e ci sono gli stessi identici problemi, ecc ecc…

ho pensato quindi che sarebbe stato interessante realizzare un’immagine, da pubblicare immediatamente. per fare questa cosa ho pensato anche che sarebbe stato giusto coinvolgere il pubblico presente in sala. l’immaginazione mi è andata subito allora alla celebre immagine di tazio secchiaroli, riprodotta qui sotto:

e poi l’immaginazione mi è andata anche alle celebri foto di kohei yoshiyuki. insomma stava nascendo nella mia testa una storia di esibizionismo.

allora ho pensato anche al celeberrimo film di wim wenders paris,texas, con la sua meravigliosa colonna sonora di ry cooder: quella sarebbe stata la musica della serata.

la modella che mi serviva non sarebbe dovuta essere solo bella, ma (soprattutto!) brava ed intelligente: martina colombari è stata meravigliosa! si è messa in gioco come poche avrebbero saputo fare, dimostrando di essere veramente straordinaria: grazie martina!!!!

ho scattato la fotografia. quella scelta davanti al pubblico è stata un’altra, quella che ho scelto poi e che in verità preferisco è questa (cliccandoci sopra si ingrandisce):

subito dopo lo scatto ho scelto la foto, l’ho ritoccata e l’ho messa sul mio blog del corriere. in serata l’immagine era sulla home page del corriere: forse sono riuscito a far vedere che anche senza andare alle maldive, anche senza super luci, ma solo con un’idea si riesce, in mezz’oretta, a produrre una fotografia che abbia una storia e quindi la dignità di essere pubblicata. non vi piace? può darsi, ma ha una storia ben precisa…

grazie veramente a tutti (tanti!) quelli che sono venuti a sentirmi, a vedermi e che, soprattutto, hanno partecipato all’immagine: grazie![/it] [en]So, here I am, a few days after participating to fotografica 2009, the weekend dedicated to photography at spazio forma.

I posted previously, who was there knows it, during the show; I think it is the right time to tell you more, for use and abuse of who wasn’t there…

So, starting from the beginning: I was invited to speak for a couple of hours in the main hall of spazio forma. As soon as the good news was bestowed upon me I immediately started thinking on how to make these two hours interesting. I didn’t think that a simple slide show with my photographs and showing “urbis et orbis” how cool I am wasn’t a good idea. I thought it would be boring…

To be in the game, to risk.. I thought it would be better!

I started with talking about “who I am”. I thought the answer could only be one: “I am all I’ve been”. I then showed a photograph I took in 1979 of my friend andrea (on film, developed and printed by me..) and another taken thirty years later of a model for max magazine. The two images have the same and identical lighting, and by my judgement, exactly the same soul. These are below:

Besides slide shows being really boring, I also thought it was counter producing to show some pictures taken with hot people at the maldives, because it makes you think “everyone is good at taking a picture with a hot person at the maldives”. Which is huge fucking bullshit, because at the maldives  it rains like in milan and there are similar problems, etc etc..

Therefore I thought that it would have been interesting to create an image, to publish immediately. And for this I thought it would have been good to involve the people that where present in the hall. My imagination took me immediately to the famous photograph by tazio secchiaroli, here below:

After that my imagination jumped also to the famous photos by kohei yoshiyuki. In short a story about exhibitionism was growing inside my head.

So I began to think about the well renowned movie by wim wenders paris,texas, with its exquisite soundtrack by ry cooder: that would have been the music following the event.

The model that I needed couldn’t have only been beautiful, but (above all!) good and smart: martina colombari was brilliant! She got in the game like no other, showing that she really is exceptional: thank you martina!!!!

I took the photograph. The one taken in front of the crowd is another one, the one that I then chose and that in reality I prefer is this one (you can enlarge it by clicking on it):

immediately after taking the photo I chose it, I retouched it and I posted it on my blog on the corriere newspaper. During the event the image was on the homepage of the corriere: maybe I was able to show that even without going to the maldives, event without super lighting, but only with an idea you are able, in about half an hour, to create a photograph that has a story and therefore have the dignity to be published. Don’t you like that? perhaps, but it has a precise story to it…
