photographic magazine have been important to me since when I was about 15/16 years old. like a lot. they have certainly contributed to the little or much I know about photography.
in those days especially PROGRESSO FOTOGRAFICO was incredibly good: coming from a humanistic culture and finding someone who would approach photography with the same culture was, in my memory, disruptive. I still remember perfectly well an issue dedicated to “figures of speech” in photography. figures of speech! the awareness that the rules in languages could be applied to the image made me understand what needed to be understood, that photography is a language..
I remember like it was yesterday, and I remember it with great emotions, the day in which, after having written the letter by hand and sent it in a stamped envelope, I found it published on my favourite magazine! and then the answer.. <3
as you might have noticed a few posts below evidently in those days I enjoyed writing (and reading, the two are inevitably linked!) more than nowadays. this is the published letter
I am aware of the current strong crisis in the publishing world, and therefore also in the one dedicated to photography: I do not think it is possible anymore to make magazines like they used to (another great magazine that I’d like to remember is PHOTO, that in spite of being very franco-centric, it was very nice).
there is a lot of crisis but the magazines are there and I think it is right to buy them and read them. this month I gave my modest contribution to the magazine FOTOGRAFARE, with the cover and an editorial inside.

Pensa che oggi c’è chi prende aiuto anche dalle Tue foto e le usa come ispirazione insieme a quelle fotografie di coloro che erano grandi quando Tu eri più piccolo!
Io, come tanti certamente, lo faccio e credo che per Te questo possa essere una bella soddisfazione.
Io ricordo che anche Zoom nn era male…

Bella la tua lettera/domanda (scrivevi molto bene a 17 anni, oggi è quasi impossibile trovare altrettanto), ma già che c’eri non potevi mettere l’immagine anche della risposta?
Comunque ci possiamo tutti consolare: anche TU, perlomeno dai 14 ai 17 anni avevi la PASSIONE per la fotografia…

bhe innanzi tutto complimenti, bella lettera, con tanto di “PASSIONE PER LA FOTOGRAFIA”. E devo anche aggiungere che per me le riviste di allora sono l’internet di oggi, trovo un blog come questo, un signore molto gentile e disponibile che parla di libri di fotografia, di autori, mi incuriosisco e mi si apre un mondo… grazie
Ultimamente ho scoperto la rivista il fotografo, nuova veste, con contenuti più umanistici che tecnici. Al momento quella che preferisco.
