We have come to the end of a long job (two weeks!) in the Caribbean. A super job that was in need of a super permit! Here:
But there is something else I’d like to talk about…
I am afraid that I’ve written about this subject plenty of other times. After all in eight or more years of blogging I can be repeating things! Anyways…
When I’ll be older and not yet senile I really think that I will write about my memoirs as a photographer. I would love to become the Anthony Bourdain of photography!
I know more or less what I’ll be writing about but I also don’t. I know the title for sure. It will be this: “WITH AND WITHOUT”. There isn’t a photo shoot in which these three magic words are repeated: with and without hat, with and without shoes… etcetera etcetera. And I think that it is a phrase that is in common with any photo shoot, of any kind. Steven Meisel in New York must have heard this phrase, as well as a photographer in Budapest shooting porn (with and without dxxk in the axs!). Its some sort of fil rouge that exists on any photo shoot. What better title then for a book that will talk about photo shoots? (go ahead and purchase the domain conesenza.it and sell it to me for a million euros in ten years time, please!)
This, however unnecessary, preamble was to introduce the two images below, “withandwithout” watch, taken to show the mark, certainly most visible and obvious, that these two weeks have left me:
But the biggest mark left by these last two weeks is not the tan, that will soon go away. The mark is two long and difficult weeks but with a great team that allowed me to work well.
The most extraordinary of all has been with Davide, ex fashion photographer from Milan in the seventies (!), moved to New York, to continue being a fashion photographer and has been living in the Carribean, where on a lost island he built himself an extraordinary house/hut, hanging the photographic camera on the wall and become a well known chef: what a story! Davide hosted us with warmheartedness and incredible kindness, not only by letting us use his house to take photographs but also (and above all!) by cooking spaghetti with the most delicious mussels on earth (because they really were and also because after ten days of anglo-carribean cuisine…)
Here are some images of his castle:
This magical place is also available for holidays! Yes indeed! This is the tip off I want to leave you with. And let me tell you this is a super tip-off, believe me. All the info is here
I want to rework the title of my book to come for Davide. It won’t be anymore
“CON E SENZA” (with and without) but, only for him and only in this case, “CON ESSENZA” (with essence)…
