non preoccupatevi, tornerò presto a scrivere della leggera ed effimera vita di un fotografo, ma è qualche giorno che ho nella testa questo pensiero, e vorrei scriverlo prima che passi…
il mondo, lo sappiamo, è verso quello che autorevoli ricerce e scienziati dicono sarà un cataclisma ecologico: il surriscaldamento del pianeta, l’inquinamento, il riscaldamento globale, l’effetto serra e quant’altro…
tutti dicono, sicuramente a ragione, che le cause di tutto questo siano provocate dall’uomo, che distruggendo la natura ed inquinando tutto, sta facendo in maniera tale che tutto questo accada.
il fatto è però che le più moderne tecnologie sembra aiutino a far diminuire l’inquinamento. anzi, sicuramente aiutano a far diminuire l’inquinamento.
per rimanere nel mio campo il digitale ha contribuito in maniera enorme alla riduzione delle scorie inquinanti date dalle pellicole e dagli acidi.
internet e i computer stessi hanno contribuito ad usare molta meno carta.
le nuove marmitte contribuiscono ad inquinare meno.
i pannelli fotovoltaici contribuiscono a generare energia pulita.
insomma, sembra, ora come ora, che solo la più moderna tecnologia possa essere la vera salvezza dall’inquinamento globale.
tutti dicono: scrivete più mail, così useremo meno carta e taglieremo meno alberi. mica nessuno dice non scrivete più niente a nessuno.
tutti dicono usate le automobili euro 5, mica dicono andate in giro a piedi.
sembra quindi che la tecnologia sarà ciò che ci salverà.
peccato che la tecnologia sia la causa di tutto il disastro: se fossimo ancora nelle caverne ad uccidere gli animali con le mani il mondo non sarebbe certo inquinato.
e quindi?
e quindi la mia domanda è: quand’è che la tecnologia ha smesso di essere dannosa e ha cominciato ad essere utile?
c’è un giorno, un anno preciso?
una volta, negli anni settanta, si diceva: “facciamo la rivoluzione, per cambiare il mondo”
adesso si dice: “la vera rivoluzione è non cambiare il mondo”
figuriamoci se io ho le risposte.
ma può essere di aiuto un gran bel libro appena letto:

The world, as we all know by now, is heading towards an ecological catastrophe, so authoritative researchers and scientists say: overheating of the planet, pollution,
global warming, greenhouse effect, and so on ….
everybody says, and they must be right, that all this is caused by man, that by destroying nature and polluting everything, is making sure that all this happens.
it is a fact that modern technology seems as if it is helping to decrease pollution, surely is helping to decrease pollution.
in my field digital technology contributed enormously to reduce toxic waste from film and acids.
internet and computers have contributed by wasting far less paper,
new speed exhaust pollute less,
solar panels contribute by producing clean energy,
it looks as if at the moment only modern technology can save us from global pollution.
everybody says: write more e-mails, we will use less paper, and will cut fewer trees,
nobody is saying do not write at all.
everybody is saying drive cars euro 5, nobody is saying walk around.
it looks as if technology will save us.
pity that technology is the mayor cause of the disaster: if we were still in the caves killing animals with our bare hands the world surely would not be polluted.
so?
so my question is: when is it that technology has stopped to create damaged and has started to be useful?
was there a precise day, or year?
some times ago, in the seventies, people used to say: “let’s have a revolution, let’s change the world”
now people say: the real revolution is to not change the world.
imagine if i have answers.
