    PHOTOMETER

It is a triumph, especially on the internet and the various social networks, of people defining themselves PHOTOGRAPHERS, with a website, portfolio, blogand all those things…

It is something which, and I say it without any irony, I like very much: far be it from me every aspiration of corporatism… and then the wonderful strength of the network that allows everyone to get on a stage to show their work and show they are worth it.

There, maybe the problem starts right here: how much are you worth?

On the one side there is the “de gustibus”, where its ok to publish anything and if you like it its more than enough, on the other there must be some sort of parameters to be able (objectively) to judge the work of a photographer.

And this is where I intervene!

With my usual arrogance and presumption I want to give you a precious instrument to value your work!

It works like this: you start with 100 points, those that the generosity of the Web makes available to everyone, by default.

From these 100 points you subtract 10 points for each affirmative answer to these questions.

At the end you will know (with mathematical exactitude!) your photographic value.

    Here we go:

    –  You sign your photographs in limestone with your name and surname.

    –  You have photographs in HDR on your website.

    –  Your website has music.

    –  You have taken photographs of naked women or in underwear in an abandoned factory.

    –  You have never sold one of your photographs for more than €1.000.

    –  In your portfolio you have photographs of sunsets and/or masks in Venice and/or kittens and/or fishermen with wrinkles in black and white.

    –  You have less than 50 books on photography.

    –  You have written under each photograph which camera and lens you have used to take the picture.

    –  You publish fake editorials, with title, credits and captions (the others don’t know that they are fake, but you do: c’mon, down by 10 points!)

    –  If you have answered YES to the nine questions above and if you have held or have been thinking of holding a workshop you lose not 10 but 20 points, goign directly to minus 10.

    Here, this is all.

    Its absolutely not a joke.

You finally have a fundamental instrument to be able to value your work: the PHOTOMETER!

      80;

    4. Federico scrive:

Cristo che ridere. Come ho fatto a scoprire il fotometro solo ora? Mannaggia. Caro Benedusi io lo copyrighterrei.
E’ esattamente come dice lei. Finalmente i migliaia di “sono-fotografo-perchè-ho-2-corpi-macchina-5-obiettivi-e-2-flash”
      avranno qualcosa su cui meditare.
      Un saluto

    5. Erick scrive:
